Okay people, the latest issue of Voiceworks is PHENOMENAL. As an intern for Express Media, I’m a bit bias. But please, have some faith in me – I’m not one for posting PR here. I have fallen in love with Fluid and just HAD to share it here.
So of course, I’m a fan of most issues (hence the internship) but I’ve read this one cover to cover in less than two days. It is fantastic. Inside the beautifully bright blue Spring-like cover is an absolutely treasure trove of young, fresh and exciting literary work by young Australians. Yum, yum, YUM.
I was particularly drawn to the non-fiction column by Bhakthi Puvanenthiran, entitled Funny Business.
In it, Puvanenthira contemplates the future of the media online. In it, she writes -
“People who talk about the death of journalism are idiots. Journalism has been an indispensable element of the democratic process for 137 years, and journalists, despite our reprehensible set of ethics and egos, tend to feel loyalty to our craft. Twitter might break news and bloggers might be commenting on it, but people still expect and require reportage, investigation and fact-checking.”
Amen to to that.
For the whole article, you’ll have to get your hands on your own delectable copy of Voiceworks Issue 78,‘Fluid’. You can purchase said own copy online here. And, it’s only $8AUD.
