I think I’ve outgrown Cosmopolitan.
Given that I am now a 20 year old female, exactly the audience Cosmo seeks to attract, this is probably bad news for those over at ACP.

That being said, whilst I am increasingly reluctant to even pick up a copy of the publication to have an innocent peruse in the shops, let alone purchase the blessed thing, all my hope is not lost. Somehow, amongst all the struggles faced by the industry in light of declining circulations and new media (blah blah blaaaaaah…), strong front runners have been revealed in our media landscape. marie claire, Madison, Frankie have emerged as cultural outlets for intelligent women who have more diverse range of interests than what his sex life reveals about him. Hard to believe, I KNOW, especially given the fact that once upon a time, I might’ve cared.
And I’ve heard all this waffle for years, but as a not-so rebellious teenager looking for entertainment in the common room before school, of course it was all white noise.
Now I’m after more meat from my magazines. My monthly fave, marie claire, has impressed yet again with their December issue, featuring the stunning Eva Mendes, their look back at the last ten years of news which has shaken the world, and their unpretentious, thoughtful and inexpensive approach to making Christmas time easy and almost anticipatory!
Don’t get me wrong, I fully appreciate that free sexual discourse is an important aspect of being a woman these days, but is it so much to ask to have the best of both worlds? To revel in the intelligent, the pretty AND the sexy?
Let’s hope not.
Here’s to a lovely week folks!
